MAWKIN
Mawkin: ‘A scruffy, un-kempt person’ – a term that sums up this excellent young band. With Jamie’s fiddle, Alex’s melodeon, Dave on guitar and Danny on bass, influenced by folk, classical guitar, jazz, rock funk and anything else you care to mention the result, although hard to pin down is a unique sound - punchy, energetic, passionate and good fun. Now in their fourth year of music making, this Essex based four piece deliver musicianship, originality and guts. The lads gleefully meld together traditional melodies and driving rhythms to create a wall of sound that is delivered with stomping energy and raw panache.
Having played loads of folk festivals, won awards and clearly have had a lot of fun on the way Mawkin will do a lot more than get your feet tapping!
